trick or treat

Halloween 2010! Cousin Gabi stopped by a bit early to drop off some goodies.
This year we had a ballerina.
And a ladybug with a broken antennae. And Tinkerbell's fairy friend, Silvermist.
After Gabi left we headed over to Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house for an early visit. We also got to stop by daycare friend, Sammy's house before coming back to our neighborhood.

When the sun was out, it was actually a nice night out. Once the sun went down or we were in the shadows it got a bit chilly.
We made a lap around our subdivision and filled out baskets before we headed back home. We left a bowl of candy on our front porch while we ate pizza, candy and relaxed in front of the fireplace. What a great night!

soccer

Earlier this week a friend of ours asked if Presley wanted to join in on an indoor soccer team that their daughter was playing on. This team needed a few more players so we asked Presley if she wanted to do it and of course she said YES! This morning was her first game. To say we were all a bit nervous may be an understatement. There had been no practices. We weren't sure Presley even had ever seen a soccer game. We spent this week trying to talk to her about the rules.... you can only use your feet to kick the ball, no hands, try to kick it in the goal, don't let the other team kick it in your goal, etc... On the way to the game this morning Chad and I were going over the rules again with Presley when Reese piped up, "Kick them in the face." : ) We made sure that Presley knew not to follow that rule. Anyways, Presley had lots of fun and did better than I imagined. She is playing on an all girls team as of now. And several of her teammates are friends so that makes it even better.
I was tired out just watching her run, but she said she didn't get tired one bit.
And she even managed to score 1 goal! Don't you just love how she's coaching her teammates here and telling them where to kick the ball.
Way to go Pres!
We are super proud of you!

round 2

Today was round 2 for the pumpkin patch. We went with my side of the family today.
And I can happily say we had GORGEOUS fall weather. Sun was shining and it was a bit cooler.
Perfect.

First up was a hayride out to the field to pick out our pumpkins. All 3 kids decided to get gourds this time out.
We paid for our gourds, loaded them up in the van and went back to the apple orchard to pick some yummy apples.
The kids had to get a lift to find the perfect apples as they were mostly too high.
Of course, they had to test them out to make sure they were tasty.
And then we stopped for a few pictures.
Then back to pay for the apples and pick up some applesauce donuts for the morning.
We had a little meltdown.

But thankfully were able to curb that so our family could come over to our house for a chili dinner with homemade bread and homemade apple (freshly picked today) crisp. Do you sense a theme here? Be warned if you get asked to go to the pumpkin patch with us, we will probably ask you over to our house for some chili afterwards. ;)

pumpkin patch

Last Saturday we went to a pumpkin patch with Chad's family. We've been going here for the past 4 years. We've either been really, really hot or really cold. No nice in-between fall weather. I always have these great visions of wearing new fall clothes and it seems like the weather always throws me for a loop. This year was no exception...no fall clothes for us. Capri's and sandals instead.
Uncle Ben, Aunt Cindy, Tyler, (and Abby) and Gabi came with us this year!
We had a good time. The girls always love the cow train. And I loved that I didn't have to ride the cow train for the first year. ;) Thanks Gabi for riding with Reese.
The jumping pillow was a big hit.
And the new slide was super fun too!
Addy was so excited after slid down that she jumped right off and didn't notice Presley coming down....who almost took her out.
And despite Reese's serious face, she loved when Tyler took her down the slide and kept asking him to do it again and again and.....
After the slide we headed over to the bikes.

And finally it was off to pick out some pumpkins.
Addy found herself a gourd.
Reese liked this bumpy one, but it was too big for her to carry.

Reese settled on this perfect little guy instead.
It was the perfect size for her to carry.

She is such a stinker sometimes. ;)
And then so sweet, too.All the "kids".
And last up was a ride on the pony. Addy was up first.
Presley was next.
And finally it was Reese's turn.
After the pumpkin patch we all came back to our house for a chili dinner made complete with bread bowls from here and donuts and cider for dessert. We hung out, watched a little football and then all went to Great Grandma and Grandpa J.'s house to say good-bye to them before they left for Florida the next morning. Another great day!
